You've certainly heard the criticism: "wokism" has gone too far, "woke" is a threat to freedom of expression at the university... But what is woke, really? What do people mean when they use the term? And why does it spark such passionate reactions? DUB dived into the history of the term and engaged in a conversation with students, lecturers and the rector about social justice activism in academia. Let's make it mandatory to assess students by number, not by name

It should be mandatory to assess students' work anonymously at UU, argue Saskia Huers and Lieve Brogtrop, students in the Applied Ethics Master's programme. They think this would ensure a fair assessment. Using students' numbers would be a cheap and efficient solution, they write in an open letter to the Executive Board.
